A video blog?!

I can’t believe it, but I have decided that the best way for me to communicate here will be via video. I’m very shy, and take no pleasure in having my picture taken, but so far it hasn’t been too painful participating in appointments and meeting via live video. I want to share my latest work and ideas in a way that is fun for both of us, and just typing up a description of the latest batch of Shrinkets won’t do it for me.

So today I opened a Vimeo account, and with that I will also be able to create tutorials and classes to share online. It is my hope that I will get the hang of things enough to host live events, where we can talk and show our work and make something new. I’m a real homebody anyway, so having my few in-person teaching events cancelled for the year has effectively removed my chief means of interacting with humans in a creative setting.

To date I am pretty okay with Squarespace as my new platform for the website; it’s a trial learning new things but I spent some time today cleaning things up and I accept that it will be an ongoing process and never perfect! The most important things to me are legibility and comfort, and I hope today’s small changes improve things.

Oh my, I haven’t updated because I thought I hadn’t much to say and here it’s going on and on. I also want to share that I am adding lots of things to the ‘supply’ side here, so to speak. So many of us have re-embraced our crafty and creative sides as we have stayed home that I decided to offer some of the most interesting and special materials that I like to use. That collection will debut with the upcoming Shrinkets Saturday Trunk Show on June 20. You don’t have to join that Facebook group to shop; just know that that’s when the new stuff will ‘drop’.
