This colorful character looks like he's just aching for a chat, doesn't he?
I confess as I created him he reminded me of Arthur Brooke, Dorothea's uncle in Middlemarch. Mr. Brooke always struck me as feeling a bit lonesome stuck out at the Grange with no one around who was quite qualified to admire his etchings, talk about Roman architecture, or hear about the time he met Wordsworth. He was a bit featherbrained, I guess, and not a good landlord, I know, but in later years I understand he was persuaded to take better care of his tenants.
Anyway! With his bushy brows and unmistakable air of anticipation, this fellow will beckon you to the bookcase for a chat each time you pass. I'm sure he'll have a suggestion or two for what to read...if he can make up his mind.
